CRAWLSPACE SERVICES

CrawlSpace Care is as important to your home’s environment as your roof.

When moisture builds up in a crawl space, it can be absorbed into the wood and foundation of your home. High humidity creates the ideal environment for fungal growth, including wood-decay fungi that can break down the fibers that give wood its strength. Excess moisture can also make your home more attractive to termites and other wood-destroying insects.

Over time, foundation moisture, fungal decay, termites, and other wood-destroying organisms can cause significant damage to your home if the underlying moisture problem is not addressed. A neglected crawlspace can also lead to poor air quality inside of your home and even higher energy bills.

Signs of a Moisture Problem

  • Mildew and musty odors
  • Peeling paint and wallpaper
  • Sticking doors and windows
  • Wood rot or sagging floors
  • Foundation damage
  • Higher than usual energy bills

Any one of these on its own may be nothing. Two or three together usually means moisture is getting in somewhere and has been for a while.

Bama Exterminating Innovative Solutions

We have a moisture control program made up of several components, so we can put together effective protection for your home rather than selling you one fixed package. Your treatment may include:

1

Moisture Barriers

Installing moisture barriers is an effective way of preventing moisture from entering your home. This also stops cold air from meeting warm air and creating condensation on drywall.

2

Full Crawlspace Care Encapsulation

A full encapsulation protects your home from the bottom up and controls moisture with high quality reinforced vapor liner to cover the ground and walls, taped seams, sleeve foundation vents, and mechanical drying.

3

Temperature Control Crawl Space Vents

The addition of vents to crawl spaces can increase air circulation under your home. This keeps air from becoming stagnant and keeps condensation from collecting. Adding vents also helps dry out areas of the home that are prone to seasonal flooding, or dampness which can cause rot.

4

Wood Decaying Fungus Treatments

An odorless liquid treatment of Borate is applied to all exposed wood in the crawl space, in and around areas where there is wood-decay fungi. Borates assist in the prevention of future wood-decay fungal growth when moisture levels increase.

5

Wood Destroying Insect Treatments

Termites aren’t the only pests that can damage the wood in your home. Powderpost beetles, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and other wood-destroying insects can also cause problems over time. Fortunately, Bama has treatment options for them all.

6

Debris and Insulation Removals

Old insulation, construction debris, and other materials can trap moisture, harbor pests, and make it harder to properly inspect and maintain your crawl space. We can remove unwanted debris and damaged insulation to help create a cleaner, healthier, and more accessible space beneath your home.

Expect to spend up to 18% less on heating and cooling your home*

Closing the crawl space enhances the quality of the crawl space environment, lowers humidity levels and reduces moisture variation through the annual season cycle. That reduces susceptibility to wood rot, mold issues and insect damage, and ductwork in the crawl space is less likely to rust or need repair.

The man that was sent out was great, he was nice, respectful and thorough. I put I paid 1-20 dollars but we actually pay monthly for our inspection and pest service. I put my response because I did not pay the man anything and there is no choice for 0.
